Salema, Portugal

About This Project

We first visited Salema in 2000 after the death of Traca’s father Larry and the murder of my best friend Shayne. At the time, we were looking for a little break and time to heal. Luckily, Salema means “peace” in Arabic, and that’s exactly what we found. Ten years later, after nearly six months on the road, we pulled back into this pristine ocean-side village and spent a glorious week before returning home. ┬áJust for fun, I’ve included some of the pictures from our first trip. At the time, Logan was 7 and Jackson was 5. Time certainly goes fast.
